Mysuru: Yet again the district health office is in news for lack of cleanliness in its premise. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep after seeing the garbage littered across the premise warned the health authorities that he would not attend health department programmes if they failed to keep their premise neat and clean.

After inaugurating the workshop for medical officers in view of the forthcoming polio drop campaign, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep was disappointed with the upkeep of district health office. After seeing the garbage littered around the premise he took health authorities to task for not taking measures to keep the premise neat and clean. Addressing the health authorities, Randeep said, “The department should be a model in keeping the premise neat and clean but I was surprised to see it in a bad shape. If the condition remains the same, I am not going to attend any programme at health department premise.”

Jagadeesh, Corporation Commissioner who was also present along with Randeep said, “The venue comes inside the health office premise and it is the responsibility of the department to keep it neat and clean. This is the second time we are getting the complaint regarding lack of neatness at district health office premise. If they plan and request us for cleanliness we are ready to handle part of the cleanliness campaign.” Few minutes after Randeep gave an earful to the health authorities, some of the staff members started cleaning the premise. The health authorities are planning to take up cleanliness drive at health office premise on coming Sunday.

‘We should not become complacent’

“We should not become complacent. That’s the reason workshops like this are conducted. This sort of workshop will enable us to refresh amid regular work schedules and also help us to identify high risk areas and do micro planning. It has also come to light that the district is not making maximum use of NHM expenditure. Hence it is hightime a proper plan is chalked out to make maximum use of the money which we get from both Centre and state”, added Randeep. The pulse polio drop campaign will be held on January 28 and March 11. The medical officers who have come from different taluks across the district after getting training will be undertaking such trainings in their respective taluks and later submit the micro plan to district health authorities. Dr. Gopinath, District Reproductive and Child Health Officer and Satish Chand, Master Trainer were also present.
