Mysuru: The renowned Kannada litterateur who died yesterday was buried in Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka trust premises today with full state honours.

Many leaders including state Chief Minister, former Prime Minister H.D.Devegowda and Former External affairs Minister S.M.Krishna were prominent among theose who part in the funeral. He was buried very close to his wife’s tomb, who incidentally died on the same day 10 years back.

The state police fired three rounds in the air before the last rights were performed. The national flag was placed on the body as a mark of respect by the district Administration.

Recalling his friendly association with D Javaregowda , Popularly known as De Ja Gow, the CM said he was a student when the litterateur was the Vice Chancellor of Mysuru University. He deserved more awards for his works and with his demise the Kannada literature community has lost a vital link.

The former PM HD Devegowda turned emotional when he encountered SM Krishna during the funeral proceedings and was seen wiping his tears.

Many Mysureans and other prominent people from different walks of life paid their last respects.
