Mysuru: The delay in appointment of vice chancellors will have adverse effect on universities, said Dhirendra Pal Singh, Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Government of India.
When the delay in appointment of vice chancellors to various universities across the state including University of Mysore where a permanent appointment is pending since nearly a year, was brought to the notice of Dhirendra Pal Singh, he said “Yes, the delay in appointment of not only vice chancellors but also heads of institutions including principals and directors, will have adverse effect. I would urge the state government and all the concerned that the mechanism should be such that the leader should be there in place. As soon as the vice chancellor’s term gets over, there should be immediate replacement.
“In the interest of quality of higher education, permanent principals, vice chancellors and directors should be there. It is only then that the major decisions can be taken and policies made”, added Singh.
