Mysuru: When all their prayers fell on deaf ears, the rich hoarding some ‘black moolah’ resorted to giving it back to Gods allaying the fear of losing that extra bit of money. Obviously, reports of Gods turning richer have been hitting headline from various quarters and Chamundi Temple in Mysuru is no exception.
The sources in the temple say that over last one week, the presiding deity Chamundi Thayee has turned richer by more than Rs 3 cr. What is interesting is that all of these donations in the hundi (donation box) are Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes!
The demonitisation decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given sleepless nights to the rich. Working out ways to do away with the black money, the rich who have hoarded money have now been resorting to Gods. During the first round of donation box opening, it was found that the amount collected was at Rs 1.76 cr and on Wednesday the second round of counting showed that the amount collected was Rs 2.56 cr. Both the donation boxes had Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination notes.
Meanwhile, the administrative board of the temple, which had installed CCTV cameras near the donation box has decided not to delete the rushes because the RBI may require these rushes while exchanging the currency.
