Piriyapatna: Thousands of devotees had thronged the traditional Brahmarathotsava celebration of Kannambadiamma, the town’s deity, which has numerous followers all over the state.
The whole town was floating in jatra excitement. On the morning of Tuesday March 16., the idol of God was brought and marched around the chariot. Post that the chariot was drawn with deity inside. Devotees threw fruit and flowers on to the chariot with devotion.
The festival was headed by Venugopal, the high priest leading the worship rituals. In the evening there was a parade of gods downtown.
There will be a parade at the town fort and Upparageri streets of the town on Wednesday March 17 and in the evening of Thursday March 18 boat festival at temple pond will be held. As a precautionary measure, a tight bandobast was in place. People were made aware of Covid rules through loudspeakers.
