Mysuru: The Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KARD) staged a protest in front of DC office here today today to demand higher pay and an announcement to that effect immediately. The Protesters, vary about the negative opinion about their action said “we care for our patients, our intention is not to cause any inconvenience to our patients but we are not left with any other option.”
They said, “Govt Medical Officers (MBBS) in our state are receiving salary of approximately Rs 60000/month. Our colleagues in other states like Delhi and Maharashtra are working for fixed hours and also receiving much higher stipend n salary than us. The Karnataka resident doctors are the least paid residents in the country.”
The stipend was previously hiked in November 2011. It has been 3years and 9 months there has not been any revision in the stipend. In this regard in Feb 2014 a memorandum was submitted to the Govt requesting to hike stipend of house surgeons, Post Graduates and super specialty resident doctors, they explained. They said, “Presently stipend for House Surgeons, Post Graduates Super Specialty is 15000, 25000 and 30000 respectively but they urged to increase it to 20000,40000 and 50000 respectively”. We don’t want assurance, we want action they said.

Members of Karnataka Association of Resident Doctors (KSRD) including Students, Doctors, Super Speciality Students staged protest and demanded hike in their salary at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on Monday.
