Mysuru: The employees of Falcon Tyres along with their family members including their children staged a protest and observed a one-day fast demanding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s intervention in settling their long-pending issues. The employees have threatened to stage a protest in front of Siddaramaiah’s residence in Ramkrishnanagar if their demands were not met within a week.

falcon1The employees and their family members said the company owners were cheating employees by not resuming work and denying salary for the past nearly two years. Though six meetings have been held at Vidhana Soudha, it hadn’t yielded anything, they lamented. Though Siddaramaiah took initiative and directed Industries Minister R V Deshpande to solve the problems, there is no major progress.

On October 27, chief minister had assured that their problems would be solved in 48 hours’ time but it is yet to be. The protestors urged Siddaramaiah to immediately convene high level meeting to exert pressure on Falcon Tyres Chairman and Managing Director Pavan Kumar Ruia to resume production. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep assured the protestors that he would speak to District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa and do his best to solve the long-pending problem. “For the time being, we request the management to sell the tyres which are in the factory within a week and if they fail we will try to take initiative to do so and help you initially” added Randeep.

Niveditha, daughter of Suresh and studying II PU (PCMB) said, “For the past two years due to lack of salary from factory management, my father is finding it difficult to pay the fees. The college authorities tell us to pay the fees in front of other students and it is really embarrassing. Later our parents need to literally beg with the college authorities for more time to pay fees. I am ready to discontinue my studies but don’t want my parents to beg. I have preparatory exams on January and I need to pay fees before that. I don’t know how my father will manage. It’s the same with most of the students. Most of them are not able to concentrate on studies due to penury being faced by their parents”.
