IAP Mysuru excels at South Pedicon 2016 with 2 awards

Mysuru: The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Mysuru District Branch in association with the Department of Pediatrics, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI); Department of Pediatrics, JSS Medical College, Mysore and Department of Community Medicine, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Mysore which had organised World Breast Week between August 1 to 7 in different hospitals and colleges in city was adjudged the best branch in the state for conducting breast feeding awareness programme successfully.

All the 30 branches across the state had conducted various awareness programmes on the importance of breast feeding but it was the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Mysuru District Branch who excelled at it. In the overall performance category too, the same Mysuru branch which had conducted various CME and scientific sessions stood second, next only to Dharwad branch.

Dr Sudha Rudrappa, President of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Mysuru branch and who is also Professor and HOD of Department of Pediatrics, MMCRI said “We had conducted weeklong awareness programmes at different hospitals and even colleges. When we presented the fact and figures about the programmes, the adjudicators were impressed with our performance and adjudged ours as the best branch in the state in undertaking breast feeding awareness programme”. She also assured to continue to do more such awareness programmes in the days to come. The award was presented in Shimoga during the South Pedicon 2016.

Dr. Deepak Chiradoni (Secretary, Karnataka State IAP), Dr. Prashanth S N (EC Member, Central IAP), Dr Narayanappa (National Vice President, Infectious Diseases Chapter and Professor and HOD, Department of Pediatrics, JSS Medical College, Mysore), Dr Rohit Agarwal (Past President, Central IAP), Dr Kotturesha Rasthapuramath (President, Karnataka State IAP), Dr Rajendra Kumar (Secretary, IAP, Mysuru District Branch and Associate Professor of Pediatrics, MMCRI, Mysore were also present during award ceremony.
