Mysuru: Yet again it’s a fractured mandate in the Mysuru City Corporation election! BJP has bagged 22 seats, Congress 19, Janata Dal (S) 18 and others 6 seats.

No party has reached the magic figure of 33 and again Congress and JD (S) put together have secured 39 seats and are all set to come together to hold the reigns of MCC again. It was almost the same situation during the last election as well but comparatively, BJP has improved its total number of seats. Last year, it had won 13 seats while this year it has added nine more seats taking its tally to 22 seats.

The 23-year-old Sathvik of BJP, son of former mayor Sandesh Swamy who won from Ward No 35 is the youngest corporator. BSP candidate Begum alias Pallavi who won from Ward No 56 recorded the highest margin (2904 votes) while Sharath Kumar of BJP registered victory with the least margin of 8 votes. Prominent among those who lost the election include former mayors Purushotham from Ward No 38 and incumbent mayor B Bhagyavathi from Ward No 21.
