Mysuru: Congress circles are abuzz with fresh rumours that the next wicket to fall will be Mysuru District In-charge and Public Works Department Minister H C Mahadevappa.
It is gathered that after S C Jayachandra, nabbed in ill-gotten wealth case where huge volumes of currency stashed was found in his residence, disclosed the name of PWD minister during interrogation, the latter’s position is shaky. It is learnt that he had admitted to H C Mahadevappa’s share in the seized amount when Enforcement Directorate officials quizzed him.
In the event of the case getting transferred to CBI, minister Mahadevappa will be on the firing line with no option left apart from putting down his papers.
Rumours are abounded in Congress party circles that the chief minister will go in for a minor cabinet reshuffle to fill vacant posts as well as shift some ministers like Tanvir Sait from the current positions they hold.
Some predict a likely patch up between former revenue minister R Srinivasa Prasad and the chief minister to prevent the dalit exodus in case HC Mahadevappa resigned, keeping in view the forthcoming Assembly elections slated 17 months later.
Politics being the art of impossible where anything can happen anytime, fence sitter Srinivas Prasad also may prefer “a known devil to an unknown angel” in the fluid political situation.
