Jumbos Procession Mark Glory of Mysore Dasara

Mysore:The innumerable people witnessed the key attraction of jumbos procession during the historical 403rd Mysore Dasara on Monday October 14.The viewers who aspired for this most precious moment of viewing goddess Chamundeshwari seated majestically in the golden chariot mounted on a lead jumbo.

The people gathered on either side of the road between the palace wherein jumbos procession held on Monday morning.  All those who secured entry passes seated in the designated locations, while a few chose to sit besides the road, while a few climbed the trees and also viewed the spectacular jumbos procession from roof-tops. The dignitaries with gold cards were seated in the compound of palace.

As per the tradition, Mysore erstwhile ruler Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar offered puja to age-old tree at the palace premises.The wrestling was held in the precinct.

CM Siddaramaiah, ministers Srinivas Prasad, H C Mahadevappa and Mahadevaprasad, MP Vishwanat, Mayor Rajeshwari, MLAs and other dignitaries arrived at the palace and offered Nandi puja on the occasion.

CM Siddaramaiah lauded the preparations for the successful Dasara this year, while the district-in-charge minister V Srinivas Prasad and government officers meticulous planning was responsible throughout ten-day celebrations. The viewers exceeded all the expectations this year, said CM Siddaramaiah.

The jumbo Balaram decorated with royal attire led the jumbos procession, followed by jumbos – Abhimanyu, Gajendra, Vijaya, Varalaxmi with golden crown carrying jumbo Arjun majestically.

The traditional brass band accompanied by folk-artistes staged variety shows ahead of jumbos, followed by 42 tableaus and over 100 folk-art troupes in unison proceeded from palace compound through Balaram gate towards Banni Mantap.

The idol of goddess Chamundeshwari was installed in the golden throne ahead of jumbos procession and lowered on the back of celebrated jumbo Arjun with the help of a crane at the royals private palace located on right side of main palace, while jumbos Sarala anad Varalaxmi helped Arjun on its feet. CM Siddaramaiah along with district-in-charge minister V Srinivas Prasad and Mayor Rajeshwari showered flowers on the idol of goddess Chamundeshwari seated majestically on the golden throne.  

The attractive display of fireworks was held on the occasion.The people along the jumbos procession revered the jumbo Arjun on the occasion.

The jumbos procession that began from Balaram gate, proceeded through Chamaraja roundabout, K R roundabout, Sayyajirao Road and returned to Banni Mantap.The horsemen and police gymnastics also added flavor to the celebrations.
