Mandya: Final rites of eight passengers who died in Kanaganamaradi bus tragedy, in which a private bus plunged into the Visvesvaraya Canal claiming 30 lives, was held at the Vade Samudra village. Villagers performed the final rites in mass.
According to the villagers, eight residents of the village died in the accident. “As all the villagers decided to perform the final rites in mass, all the family members agreed. The final rites were held at around 10 am on Sunday,” said a police constable deputed in the village.
A total of 30 passengers died in the accident. All the bodies have been retrieved from the canal. The police and the fire and emergency department personnel carried out the search operation even on Sunday till noon.
