Kodagu: The tiny district has again witnessed an increase in number of Covid infections. This district which shares border with Kerala has been in the news for some time now following high rate of infection.
The District Administration tightened checks at the inter-state border and has decided to withdraw weekend curfew as Covid cases came below 2 percent. However, on Saturday September 11 the district reported abrupt surge in Covid cases to 2.84 percent and that 953 were infected with Covid.
Interestingly the persons who got infected have already taken the vaccination.
Speaking to reporters, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Charulatha Somal told that the District Administration has announced high alert. The infected are being treated in hospitals and some have been put under home isolation. She said that since a week the positive rate was 0.5 percent and now it has gone up to 2.84 percent.
The sudden rise has created concern among residents as Education Department has been planning to open schools.
