Kodagu: The police has arrested an engineering student on charges of attempt to rape and criminal intimidation.
According to a complaint filed by a girl from Sullia of Dakshina Kannada District, a Madikeri-based youth befriended her through social media two months ago, and introduced himself as Kaushal, a Hindu.
On Thursday November 11, he invited her to meet at Sullia, and took her on a motorcycle ride. He rode the bike towards Madikeri, and visited Raja Seat along with her meanwhile clicking pictures of her as well. However, soon he misbehaved with her and allegedly attempted to rape her. He also threatened her with life if she does not cooperate with him and also blackmailed to upload photos in social media.
Followed by a complaint Sullia police arrested the youth and found him to be Taslim, a final year engineering student. A case has been registered under IPC 354A and 506. Further, investigation is on.
