Karate expert from Kodagu etches his name in India Book of Records

Kodagu: A lad from Virajpet Taluk succeded in gaining entry into India Book of Records through his hardwork of years. The youth is K. Rahul (20), a student do Karate student. He is the son of K. Kumar and Vijayalakshmi, natives of Virajpet town here.

Rahul entered the India Book of Records after he performed 262 punches and kicks in 60 seconds. Rahul, a student of Uechiryo Karate School in Virajpet strived for many years to gain entry into the records. The India Book of Records authorities  issued identity card,  certificate and medal to Rahul during last week.

Rahul was trained by Karate teacher H. R. Shivappa. He has also won hundreds of medals at the District and State level competitions. Last month he won a gold medal at international online Karate championship organised by World Union of Martial Arts’ Federation, World Karate Alliance in September 2021.

Speaking to News Karnataka, Rahul said that his hardwork of years has resulted in gaining position in India Book of Records. He said he has an aim to gain entry into Asia Book of Records in future and he has been working on it. He said Karate is not only a martial art for self-defence but sportspersons can achieve a lot in this field.

The tiny District of State, Kodagu has contributed hundreds of sporting talent to the nation. Several talents have been identified in International and National level sport. The District also has a distinction of contributing five captains to Indian hockey team and many Olympians.
