Kodagu: The eighth edition of the Karnataka Bird Festival will be held in Madikeri from April 8-10. The festival, organised by the Karnataka Forest Department and the Karnataka Eco-Tourism Development Board, aims to increase public awareness of bird watching and demonstrate the bio-diversity of forests.

According to sources, every year, a different location, region, biodiversity, and bird is highlighted in order to raise awareness and improve conservation measures. This year’s mascot is the Baza bird. Baza is a migratory bird that can be seen in the eastern Himalayas, China, and Southeast Asia. Forest officials in the area have reportedly sighted a couple of the birds now that summer has arrived.

Forests Minister Umesh V. Katti will inaugurate the event. Experts will be brought in from all over the country to share their knowledge and experience.
