Kodagu: Police has managed to arrest the accused who made derogatory remarks against Kodava girls and Goddess Cauvery in social media 10 days back.
The accused desecrated Goddess Cauvery using a Muslim guy’s Instagram account 10 days ago. The incident attracted widespread resentment and protest by Various Kodava , Gowda and Muslim organisations.
The Madikeri Cyber Police registered a case for creating enmity between communities against the accused but could not identify the accused. The name under whom the accused operated is an innocent youth who doesn’t know English. Later cyber police contacted Instagram Mumbai Office and California Office to find the IP address of the accused. It is said that accused using account of Muslim boy and photo to create communal unrest in the District.
The arrested has been identified as Divin Devaiah, a native of Palangala Village in Virajapete Taluk. Various Kodava organisations had planned a huge protest on July 22 if police had filed arrest the accused.
Madikeri Cyber Police arrested the accused and recovered phone through which he used to post derogatory remarks.
Police is investigating.
