Kodagu: The NIA team is searching for the accused in Praveen Nettaru’s murder case in the District. But there is still no clue about the accused. The NIA team, which conducted searches in many places, has now released the wanted list of four prime accused, of which Tufail, who hails from Kodagu, is also one. NIA officials have started searching for Tufail in various parts of Kodagu.
Tufail a resident of Gadduge in Madikeri is facing charges that he facilitated the accused during the murder. It has been alleged that Tufail arranged accommodation for the accused in the murder. It is also alleged that he even made arrangements for the accused’s escape after the brutal murder of Praveen at Bellare in Dakshina Kannada District on July 26. Apart from that, he was also actively involved in the banned PFI organisation.
Earlier, the NIA team had reached Kodagu twice in September in search of Tufail. The NIA team visited Kodagu on September 6 and 22 and searched many places in Madikeri including Tufail’s house. But the parents of Tufail are saying that it has been 8 months since he left the house after they quarreled with him. But NIA officials confirmed that he was in Madikeri when the murder took place.
On Wednesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced cash rewards to anyone who would provide information leading to the arrest of the absconding accused in the Praveen Nettaru murder case. The NIA said that the accused belonged to the now-banned Islamist organization PFI and absconded after the murder. For information on M. H. Tufail Rs. 5 Lakh reward has been announced.
