Kodagu: Few residents of Kuvempu and Sai Shankara layout in Kushalanagara were seen vacating houses fearing water. Since last three years the residents are facing hardships as water has been entering into houses when water level rises in Cauvery River in both the layouts.
The water level has been on the rise following water release from Harangi reservoir. Residents say that they are vacating houses leaving behind their valuables with fear that water will destroy them.
They residents have urged permanent solution to prevent entry of water into residential areas. Heavy rains in Harangi catchment area has also caused rise in inflow of water into reservoir. An NDRF team has been camping in the District to help people. District Administration has also opened a 24×7 helpline.
