Kodagu: The District Court was inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge Justice A. S. Bopanna on Saturday November 12.
Addressing the gathering Justice Bopanna said, “If people lose faith in the judiciary, the idea of democracy will be lost. L society, lawyers must keep this in mind for the betterment of society.”
Speaking further he said that courts are upgraded over time, and this does not indicate an unstable society. “People have faith in the judicial system, and it is every advocate’s duty to maintain this faith,” he added.
He lauded the work done by the district’s elected representatives in building a well-equipped court.
Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka, Prasanna B. Varale said, “The district of Kodagu, known as the “land of warriors,” has made significant contributions to the Indian Military. The district has established itself in every field, and General Thimmayya and FMKM Cariappa have been an asset to the country. It is our responsibility to provide justice to those who are in need since the court is equivalent to a temple.”
Veterans of the judicial system HC judge Cheppudira Poonacha, SC judge Shukure, HC judge E. S. Indresh, and District BAR Association President K. D. Dayananda were present. The newly built Rs. 39 Crore court in Vidyanagar’s premises. MLAs K. G. Bopaiah and Appachu Ranjan assured to extend bus services to reach the court.
