KSOU unlikely to get recognition in the near future!

Mysuru: The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is unlikely to get recognition in the near future for all the courses that were derecognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Additional Secretary to the state government Rathnaprabha has expressed her helplessness in resolving the crisis in her recent tweet, it is gathered.

It may be recalled that UGC, in 2015, had issued orders of discontinuing recognition of all the courses offered by the varsity from the year 2012-13. Going by the trend, KSOU is unlikely to get UGC recognition for its courses for the current as well as the next academic year.

Only if UGC issues fresh set of guidelines, KSOU will be in a position to get recognition, confirmed sources.

With UGC dilly-dallying its decision on recognition, the future of thousands of students remains uncertain.

Recently, the state chief minister too had mounted pressure on the Centre and requested the prime minister to put an end to the issue, considering the future of students, mostly originating from the lower strata of the society.
