Mysuru: The Central Institute of Indian languages (CIIL) director accused of sexual harassment of a lady professor was denied bail by a city court on August 19.
In her written complaint, Professor Dr.Sangeetha Saikia had accused CIIL director Professor Avdesh Kumar Mishra of emotionally harassing her by forcing her to involve in sexual act and making repeated provocative phone calls using foul language since 2013. The director had sought anticipatory bail fearing arrest by the police who acted upon lady professor’s complaint. After his bail was rejected by the lower court, the director has moved to the High Court in Bengaluru seeking anticipatory bail.
Jayalakshmipuram police had issued three notices asking him to appear in person but he had not responded citing leave. Now his application for extension of leave term is also rejected by the authorities. The future move of the director gains importance as his leave application for extension of leave stands rejected.
MHRD keeps mum
Jayalakshmipuram police under whose jurisdiction the CIIL falls had approached Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) to gather more information and were awaiting reply . Even the police are clue less about their next move as they have not received any response from the ministry.
