Madikeri: The state government is constructing houses in Karnangeri, Madapur and other villages for the victims here who lost their houses during the natural calamities that took place last year.
The houses being constructed in Karnangeri are almost in the finishing stages with the toilet and other basic facilities pending. Similarly, 80 houses have been constructed in Madenad pending the basic facilities.
Around 77 families from Madenad, Katakeri, Jodupala and 2nd Monnangeri who lost their houses in the floods have been allotted the houses constructed in Madenad. The houses were allotted to the flood victims in an event presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shivaraju. Sub-Divisional Officer T Javaregowda was also present.
A total number of 124 families from Madikeri and Somwarpet, who lost their houses in last year’s natural calamities, had requested for houses. However, 77 local families have been allotted with the houses for now, with the consent of the flood victims.
ADC P Shivaraju has informed that the remaining 47 families will be allotted houses in Jamburu.
