Mysuru: Bored over fighting cases on a regular basis in courts where victory stays at a distance, the advocates tried their fortunes in an eating contest. The “Ragi Mudde” (Ragi Balls) eating contest was open for all advocates interested in the competition.

Around 40 advocates took part in the competition including women. The participants were also fed with traditional delicious “Nati-Koli” (country chicken) curry and the contestants consuming maximum amount were declared winners.

In the men’s section, Advocate Chikkaswamy won the contest by consuming 2.2 Kg, followed by Somu and Shankaregowda at 1.7 Kg and 1.65 Kg respectively.

The women advocates were not lagging behind either. Shylaja won the contest consuming 1.75 Kg followed by Sakamma at 1.65 Kg and Jayalakshmi at 1.5kg.

There were many spectators around the table egging the participants to perform well.

The rest among the contestants did not complain as they savored tummy full meal with tasty chicken curry- all free of cost!

The contest was organised by H. Hombegowda Memorial Advocates’ Association Recreation Club.

Ragi Mudde is a traditional food in the Mysuru region of the state widely consumed by people from Gowda community.

It may be recalled that when Devegowda became the prime minister in the 90s, Ragi Mudde made its maiden entry in PM’s banquet and appeared in the menu of several five star hotels in Delhi.
