Anniversory of Babri Masjid demolition; prohibitory orders issued in Madikeri

Mysuru: As a precautionary measure in view of the anniversory of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, the Madikeri commissioner had issued prohibitory orders on Saturday continued even on Monday in Madikeri.

Earlier Madikeri deputy commissioner Meer Anees Ahmed had issued prohibitory orders in some places of Kodagu under Section 144 of CRPC from 10 pm on Saturday to Monday 5 am.

Speaking to the media persons Madikeri SP Varthika Katiyar said, ” The prohibitory orders are in force in a two kilometre radius around Madikeri, Virajpet, Somvarpt, Gonikoppa and Madapura in Kodagu district. There was no threat, this is a preventive measure.
 
To avoid any clashes in the region, video cameras have been installed at all five places and security has been intensified.

After violence erupted in the district over Tippu birth anniversory celebrations, the police is keeping a strict vigil on every vehicle crossing the state border.
