Madikeri: In a big relief to Congress leader KJ George, a former minister and now an MLA, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given clean chit to him in the DySP Ganapathi suicide case. In a report to the CBI court, the CBI team claimed that there is no evidence to prove the allegations against KJ George or any other officers mentioned by Ganapathi.
Ganapati had committed suicide inside a hotel room in Madikeri on July 7, 2016 by shooting himself. Prior to ending life, Ganapathi, in a TV interview made some shocking revelations on how his higher-ups and politicians have been harassing him. He had blamed the then home minister George, IPS officers AM Prasad and Pranob Mohanty for his decision. This had led to a furore in the state. George had tendered resignation to Siddaramaiah government who was inducted into the government later. The case was handed over to the CBI for investigation. The team had now given clean chit to IPS officers who were mentioned by Ganapathi along with George.
The CBI report pointed out that action taken by the police department was in accordance with the law and departmental policy.
