Chettalli: Irked by poor telephone service, locals took BSNL officials to task and laid siege to the BSNL office here on Wednesday, October 19.
The locals complained about the frequent outages in landline services affecting bank and other important document-related works. The locals alleged that the officials whom they tried calling failed to respond.
However, when BSNL officials from Madikeri arrived to Chettalli to repair the generator, locals took them to task. The officials finally asked the angry locals to contact the higher officials.
One of the members of Chettalli gram panchayat spoke to the higher officials and immediately asked them to repair the telephone service. They also demanded the BSNL officials to install a new generator.
Former president of Gram panchayat Mullanda Sanni Ayyappa warned to again lay siege to the BSNL office if they fail to meet their demands.
