Somwarapete: The JMFC Court Junior Civil Judge Shyamprakash deferred the hearing on a private complaint levelling sedition charges against actress Ramya to January 27, 2017. The complaint accuses Ramya of pro-Pakistan comments.
The court took up the case for hearing on December 29 and asked the complainant advocate Katnamane Vittal Gowda whether praising neighbouring country Pakistan amounted to sedition? However, advocate Vittalgowda argued that it did since Pakistan had been termed as a traditional enemy of India state, to the disagreement of the judge.
“Pakistan is using its soil to promote terror activities against India and is responsible for killing our soldiers and civilians”, Vittal Gowda said in the counter statement and contended that “Praising Pakistan amounts to sedition”.
The judge, in response, said terrorism was not confined to Pakistan alone but a global problem while deferring the hearing to January 27.
In the end, Vittal Gowda placed the facts submitted by him to the court pleading action against actress Ramya in the presence of the media.
