Madikeri: Human Right Awareness Committee has suspected the role of many more apart from the accused who has been nabbed in the murder case of a guest teacher named Pramila, who was hacked to death near Srimangala.

Addressing a news conference, Committee President Padikal Kusumavathi said that with suspicion around the murder, it is appropriate to hand over the case to the CID.

“The crime scene evinces involvement of more than one person. Further, the accused who has been nabbed may not have dragged the body of the victim nearly half a km away from the murder spot single-handed. There are several migrant workers hailing from Assam and Odisha living here. Most of these workers are addicted to drugs or other intoxicating substances. The involvement of such individuals cannot be ruled out,” she said adding that the accused seems to be a victim of some kind of conspiracy, which is not yet clear.

With several anomalies coming to fore, she said that care has to be taken that genuine accused gets stern punishment and innocent is saved.

It may be recalled that Pramila, 34, a guest teacher at a primary school in the village was lilled at West Nemmale village near Shrimangala on Monday when she was waiting to receive her two kids from the school van. She was attacked by some miscreants who allegedly dragged her to a nearby forest and attacked her using sticks. Locals, who found her partially naked body, suspect that she may have been killed after being raped.
