Madikeri: Youth from Nasik in Maharashtra are performing several stunts where enormous risks are involved, just for daily bread.
They display multiple skills to draw the crowds and in the end collect few coins and low denomination notes from the “pleased” section in the crowd. Then they move on to the next town to perform the stunts.
Many onlookers felt, the stunts are not worth, considering the dangers involved to individual lives. Instead they felt, youth should earn through hard work. The district provided immense job opportunities for labour community in coffee plantations where the minimum daily wages hover around Rs 250, 300.
The stunts involve walking on wooden poles of 15 feet length, breaking granite slabs with bear hands and lifting three sharp weapons while lying on the floor and many others.
However, few appreciated the stunts and applauded their efforts. A team led by Zakir, which arrived from Kushalanagar was last seen performing near Kannada Circle in Suntikoppa town.
“Masthigudi” film tragedy might be still fresh in the memory of those not siding with the youth performing risky stunts!
