Virajpet/Mysuru : A two-year-old child suffered serious injuries on the left shoulder after she was bitten by a rabid dog at Mulletodu village limits of Siddapur.
Girl child playing on the verandah started crying after the rabid dog took out little flesh from her shoulder before her parents could come to her rescue.
Injured girl was immediately rushed to the nearest primary health care centre which referred the case to district hospital.
Unable to get proper treatment there, she was ultimately taken in a private vehicle to Mysuru hospital for better treatment.
Number of stray dogs has increased due to poor disposal of waste on Siddapur-Mysuru road, said local Ramu. School going children tremble in fear while walking on roads where one has to walk with batons in self-defense to protect from imminent danger, added Ramu.
