Madikeri: A team which was smuggling 10 huge logs of wild Jackfruit tree worth Rs 3.5 Lakh fell into the trap of the City Crime Branch (CCB) police, here on Thursday, November 29.
The incident has been reported from Bekkesodluru near Ponnampet of south Kodagu.
The accused are absconding.
The CCB police got a confirmed information on the smuggling of wild jackfruit wooden logs in an Eicher mini lorry (KL–04–L–9371).
When the police were on their raid, they found that an Omni van (KA–34–M–324) was guarding the mini lorry.
When the culprits got to know that the CCB police were behind them, they left their vehicles and the wooden logs behind and fled the scene.
The police suspect the hand of one Tulasi Rai and gang in the crime.
The CCB police have begun the search for the accused.
CCB Circle Inspector Mahesh, ASI Hameed, staff Anil Kumar, Venkatesh, Yogesh Kumar, Vasanth Kumar, Niranjan, Ponnampet Inspector B G Mahesh, staff Chandru, Pramod, Kumar, Sugandh and Rajesh were involved in the raid.
