Mysuru: With the Karnataka Assembly by-polls fast approaching, things are getting heated up and words are being exchanged between rival political parties. On Wednesday, November 20, Congress leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah said that it didn’t matter whether or not JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy will support them.
Speaking to the reporters, the Opposition leader in the state said, “Our main agenda is to ensure that the disqualified MLAs do not win in the by-polls. Now is not the time to talk about whether or not the JD(S) is supporting the BJP.”
He added, “The BJP has to win at least eight seats to reach 113, the majority. To save the government, they (BJP) need to win eight seats.”
It can be recalled that the disqualified MLAs, excluding Roshan Baig, joined the BJP, soon after which of them were given tickets to contest in the Assembly by-polls. As many as 15 consituencies will be going to polls on December 5. Counting will be held on December 9.
