Mandya: Disqualified MLA Narayana Gowda, who recently claimed that he would support Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa because it was he who allocated Rs 1000 cr for ‘developmental works’ in his constituency, began his campaign for the upcoming Assembly by-polls.
Although the Supreme Court has not yet delivered its verdict on the disqualified MLAs’ plea to overturn former speaker Ramesh Kumar’s decision to bar them from contesting in elections, Gowda has been seen along with his wife Devika and daughter, campaigning and holding meetings with his supporters.
He has challenged the JD(S) leaders to donate half their properties for the development of his Assembly segment – KR Pet segment – something that he is willing to do.
As Gowda has been showering praises on CM BSY and has also been seen with local BJP leaders, it is assumed that he plans to contest the December 5 by-elections on the saffron party’s ticket from KR Pete, if the SC overturns the 17 MLAs’ disqualification.
