Mandya: Chikkamagaluru Kali Matha pontiff Rishikumara Swamiji was arrested by Srirangapattana Police in early morning of Tuesday January 18.
The pontiff few days back shot a video in front of Jamia Mosque in Srirangapattana and called upon people to demolih the mosque like Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya as the mosque was contructed over temple during the rule of Tipu Sultan. The video went viral in social media.
A complaint was lodged against Swamiji for inciting communal violence. Police registered a case and are investigating.
Speaking to reporters after the arrest pontiff said that he stands by his earlier statement.
Police took Swamiji for medical check up and have produced him before JMFC Court. The court has sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
