KRS reservoir need to be modernised for longevity: CM

Mandya: Chief Minister  Bommai offered bagina (traditional thanksgiving) at KRS Reservoir in Srirangapattana of the district on Tuesday November 2 following the rituals performed by Bhanu Prakash Sharma.

Speaking to reporters, CM said that KRS is the lifeline of lakhs of people in State and Tamilnadu. He said we have to modernise and protect it so that it could be useful for another 100 years. He said that during his visit to reservoir he noticed water leakage, and thus soon instructed officers to replace crest gates to save water.

Stating that the Visevesvaraya canal will be modernised, he said that the State would be prosperous if Cauvery and Krishna rivers catchment area becomes prosperous.

Sports Minister Dr. K. C. Narayana Gowda, Mandya Member of Parliament Sumalatha Ambareesh, MLAs Ravindra Srikantaiah, Thammanna, C. S. Puttaraju, Congress MLA Tanveer Sait, former MLC Go Madhusudana, Mandya Deputy Commissioner Ashwathi and others were present.
