Mandya: The Bajrang Sena workers held a bike jatha in Mandya on Sunday November 20 from Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Mandya to Mudala Bagilu Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Srirangapattana.
The Bajrang Sena have filed 108 Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the State High Court seeking to liberate Mudala Bagilu Anjaneya Swamy Temple, which is now a Jamia Masjid. The PIL contended that during the tenure of the erstwhile King Tipu Sultan, the temple was converted into a mosque and prayed to the court to give it back to Hindus for worship. The PIL also has requested the court to restrict Jamia Masjid authorities from taking up any kind of renovation work and to close the Madarasa operating on its premises.
108 people who had filed a public interest petition against the Jamia Masjid participated in the jatha. The jatha arrived at the Temple in Srirangapattana, offered puja in the temple and kept a copy of the petition and performed a special pooja as well as prayed for victory in the legal battle.
Police provided tight security.
