Mandya: The Constitution established the restriction that reservations could not exceed 50%. Since the reigning governments have relaxed it, Adichunchanagiri Matha Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji demanded that Vokkaliga community receives more than 4% of the available reservation.
After inaugurating the District Vokkaliga Association at Kalamandira in the city, he said, we have no regrets about expanding reservations to other localities. However, there has previously been a push for the Vokkaliga community to receive more than 4% of the reservation.
The Constitution stipulated that there is a 50% reservation. And hence, we informed our people that it was forbidden and thus all of us abidned by the law. However, now the administration loosened the 50% reservation mandated by the Constitution last week. He stated, “If more than 50% reservation is given, then more than 4% reservation should be given to our community.”
