Mandya: In view of Friday’s Supreme Court’s direction over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute, the district administration has clamped prohibitory orders in five of the seven taluks in the district for the next three days.
Mandya, Malavalli, Maddur, Srirangapatna and Pandavapura taluks would be under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code after Deputy Commissioner S. Ziyaullah issued the prohibitory orders. There will be three-day ban on tourists’ entry to the KRS reservoir and the Brindavan Gardens in its downstream near Srirangapatna to prevent agitators from staging protests.
Security has been beefed up in and around KRS and at other important places across the district following the apex court’s order. Senior officials including Mandya Superintendent of Police C.H. Sudheer Kumar Reddy inspected the arrangements.
