Mysuru: A publicity vehicle, ‘Granthayana Ratha’ has been launched by the Department of Public Libraries to herald the centenary celebrations of City Central Library, Dr. S.R. Ranganathan’s birth anniversary and State-level Librarians Day celebrations scheduled for August 12.
Mayor R. Lingappa inaugurated the ‘Granthayana Ratha’ recently, after which MLA Vasu, said that CM Siddharamaiah and other Ministers would be taking part in the celebrations.
Reacting about the construction of Centenary Library Building at People’s Park, Vasu said that the matter was before the Court and expressed confidence of it getting solved at the earliest.
The project had not started as the matter taken to Court.
Siddharamaiah had been briefed about the issue during his recent visit to the city; however the CM had expressed confidence of constructing the library building as soon as possible, he added.
Former Mayor Pushpalatha Chikkanna, Corporator Shivamadu, Department of Public Libraries Deputy Director B. Manjunath and others were present on the occasion.
Former CMs Veerappa Moily and D.V. Sadananda Gowda had laid the foundation stone for the building.
The ‘Granthayana Ratha’ will travel across various parts of the city till August 12 to create awareness on the centenary celebration of City Central Library.
