Mysuru: It has recently come to light that an enormous fund amounting up to Rs 1.66 lakhs which was donated for the construction of a Community Hall in Chamapuradagundi village in Nanjangud has been misused.
Villagers, after learning about the misuse of these funds protested and demanded action against MCC member Shanker who admitted to the fraud after probe.

Village heads had earlier decided to renovate the Marammana Gudi and an ATS company which comes under the village limits had come forward to provide funds for the same. They gave Rs 3,56,000 for the renovation.

Rs 1,90,000 was spent for upgrading the Community Hall which was inaugurated recently.

When the villagers asked the factory owners to help provide drinking water facility, they said that already Rs 3,50,000 was sanctioned for the same and it was then revealed that Rs 1.66 lacs has been misused.

When the village Panchayath leaders called MCC member Shanker, he reportedly confessed having misused the funds and agreed to return the remaining fund.

The leaders have demanded a public apology and his resignation for such irregularities. They have also threatened to hold a protest if their demands aren’t met.
