MEMU train to be flagged off at Mysuru Railway Station on Dec 23

Mysuru: Here is good news for train commuters between Mysuru and Bengaluru. The South Western Railway authorities will extend the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) between KSR Bengaluru City-Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru City 4 days a week. The inaugural MEMU service will be flagged off by Prathap Simha, Member of Parliament, Mysuru-Kodagu at the Mysuru Railway Station on December 23 at 11 AM.

The MEMU train from Bengaluru, i.e., KSR Bengaluru City will be operational on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from Mysuru on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The extension of the services to four days a week in both directions will thus be providing daily connectivity between the state capital and Mysuru through the trains T. No. 16517/6523 KSR Bengaluru City-Kannur/Karwar tri-weekly express which runs from KSR Bengaluru City on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and T.No.16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar-KSR Bengaluru City tri-weekly express from Mysuru on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The regular MEMU service from KSR Bengaluru will be commencing from December 26 and from Mysuru December 27 onwards.

It will be depart from Bengaluru at 7.55 PM and reach Mysuru at 10.50 PM and from Mysuru at 4.45 AM and reach KSR Bengaluru at 8.30 AM. The train comprises 12 cars (including 3 motorcars and 9 trailing cars). The MEMU service can reach a speed of upto 110 kmph. While the seating capacity in motor coach is 55, the trailer coach has a seating capacity of 80. The capacity for standing passengers is 171 and 241 respectively. As such, the overall capacity of a 12-car train is over 3500 passengers (sitting+standing). These trains have been provided with stops at Krishnadevaraya, Nayandahalli, Jnanabharathi, Kengeri, Hejjala, Bidadi, Ketohalli, Ramanagaram, Channapattana, Mandya, Pandavapura and Srirangapattana.

These MEMU services will also be helping a large number of daily commuters travelling from Mysuru, Mandya, Maddur and Channapattana to reach the suburban areas of Bengaluru like Nayandahalli, Kengeri and Hejjala. Besides this, MEMU services on 4 days with late evening departure, the KSR Bengaluru City Express will provide daily connectivity to Mysuru alongside T.No.16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru City-Kannur/Karwar tri-weekly express.
