Mysuru: Congress candidate Dr. D. Thimmaiah from the Mysuru-Chamarajanagara Constituency registered a thumping victory in the MLC elections, the results of which were announced here on Tuesday December 13. Dr. Thimmaiah garnered 2,810 votes.
Speaking to media persons, the Congress candidate said, “This election is new to me and this victory belongs to my party. I should thank our leaders Siddaramaiah, D. K. Shivakumar and national leaders for their unflinching support. JD (S) MLA G. T. Devegowda also supported me and I am grateful to him. All the leaders from the two districts worked for me. Ihope to take up development works in the region.”
The Congress candidate garnered 2810 votes followed by BJP – 1906 and JD (S) – 1491. The counting of votes was held Tuesday at the Maharani’s College for Commerce and Management for Women on Valmiki Road in the City amidst tight police security.
