Mysuru: “For the welfare of Paralympic sports, we have requested state government to allocate Rs 5 Crore in the state budget said M Mahadev, Founder Secretary of Paralympic Committee of India.

“There is no budget allocation for Paralympic sports in the state. To conduct state Paralympic meet they give just Rs 50,000 and for national competition Rs 1 lakh which is not enough. Hence we have requested Sports Minister Pramod Madhwaraj who is very much interested in promoting Paralympic sports to allocate Rs 5 Crore in the budget” added Mahadev.

H Chandrashekar, President of Paralympic Volleyball Federation of India said, “We have also requested minister to increase the number of Ekalavya awards for Paralympic sportspersons and more job opportunities for outstanding performance in this category. As of now the government is giving just one award ‘Para Sports’ for Paralympic sportspersons”.
