Mysuru: Mysore University, in the news for all the wrong reasons in the recent past, got entangled in a fresh controversy after the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Political Science entrance question paper contained 18 multiple choice questions picked straight from a website raising chances of question paper leak.
The 100 mark PhD entrance question paper normally contains 50 multiple choice questions and 50 other questions where descriptive answers are required. However, the question paper contains 18 questions picked straight from a website, www.currentgk.com.
According to the University Grants Commission guidelines, those who intend to take up PhD have to qualify in the entrance test. They will be eligible to start research after 1 year of passing the entrance test. However, research students fear that the question paper leak has meted injustice to them.
Reacting to the incident, Mysore University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dayanand Mane did not rule out the possibility of question paper leak and assured of action against the guilty. “About 10 staffers are normally employed to prepare 50 multiple choice questions and for each question the university pays Rs 3000. There are clear signs of question paper leak and it appears it was prepared in a hurry”, VC Mane added.
