Mysuru: Popularly known as Triveni Constituency since the confluence of three rivers, T. Narsipura Assembly Constituency is politically charged. This time too there is direct competition between JD (S) and Congress in the midst of which BJP is also emerging as a strong party. The political calculation is already intense in Triveni Sangam and the list of ticket aspirants is also getting shorter.

Currently, it is in the news again with the arrival of Assembly election. There has been a lot of preparation by the three parties and internal competition has also taken place for the constituency ticket. The Constituency consists of T. Narasipura Municipal area, Mugur, Talakadu, Sosale and Bannur Hoblis and Bannur Municipality, which has been a reserved constituency since 1978.

Another feature of the Constituency is the three-season paddy cultivation. It is also a Constituency that has given a popular politician like Rajasekhar Murthy. Ashwin Kumar, who is JD (S) leader, won for the first time and as the current MLA, he is engaged in development work for the people. He has already secured a ticket from the party and has engaged himself in vigorous campaigning along with development work in the Constituency.
Congress is also dominant in the Constituency and has devised a wait and see strategy in terms of tickets. Former Public Works Department Minister H. C. Mahadevappa and his son Sunil Bose, are key leaders and aspirants of Congress ticket. it is interesting to see who will get the ticket. Mahadevappa was thinking of leaving the Constituency to his son and moving to Nanjanagudu constituency. At present, due to the sudden change in the State politics following demise of Former MP Dhruva Narayan, Mahadevappa has decided to give up ticket to Dhruvanarayan’s son from Nanjanagudu Constituency.

On the other hand, there is a saying that no matter who contests from the Congress party, only one member of the family will be given a ticket. Also, there is a question from where Mahadevappa would contest. It is still not clear who will get the ticket from High Command. If the people of the Constituency remember Mahadevappa’s development work and make up their mind to vote, the Constituency will be won. His son Sunil Bose is often seen in the field and it is still not certain whether he will contest or not.

Despite the lack of dominance, BJP has not fallen behind in organising in the constituency. Dr. Bharti Shankar, Dr. Revanna, MP V. Srinivasa Prasad’s daughter Pratima Prasad, Former Minister Kote M. Shivanna, C. Ramesh and others have demanded for tickets. Sundaresh’s son Samrat Sundaresh, who earlier contested from JD (S) and lost by a narrow margin, is also a BJP ticket aspirant and is actively visiting the Constituency. This Assembly Constituency has a total (approximate) population of 2,13,923 including Scheduled Caste, Lingayat, Vokkaliga, Kuruba, Nayak, Muslim and others. There are 198434 total voters out of which 98830 are male, 99591 are female and 13 other votes.
