Mysuru: Mango mela records 74 tonnes sale - 1 min read

Mysuru: The three-day mango mela which extended a day in cultural City has received very good response from Mango lovers. The mela is bringing smiles on the faces of growers who were brooding over less yield due to untimely rainfall.

Mango growers from Mysuru, Mandya, Ramanagara, Kolar and other places took part in the Mela. Organically ripened mangoes were not only in demand but were sold like ‘hot cakes.’ Badami was the most preferred variety followed by Raspuri and Mallika. Nearly 30 tonnes of Badam, 18 tonnes of Raspuri and 8 tonnes of Mallika varieties were sold. The sales of other varieties like Totapuri was 5 tonnes, Malgoa, 4 tonnes and some other varieties like Dasheri, Himapasand, Banganpalli was 5 tonnes making a total of 74 tonnes sales.

As the fruit lovers flocked the mela in large numbers, the farmers who had set up stalls insisted on extending the mela by a day till Monday May 30. It was earlier scheduled to end on Sunday May 29
