Mysuru: The Second Additional Civil Court has issued notices to Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Tuesday, after a plea was filed questioning the adoption of Yaduveer by the queen.
Yaduveer Wadiyar wants to join politics-1Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs, nephew of late Royal family Scion Srikanta Datta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had filed a plea in the Court against Pramoda Devi Wadiyar’s decision in which he mentioned that as per the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956, a boy or a girl can be adopted only if he/she is below 15 years of age. But Pramoda Devi Wadiyar’s adoption of 23-year-old Yaduveer is a clear violation of the Act, according to Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs’s Bengaluru-based advocate Ajay Govindaraju.

The next hearing of the case has been posted to November 21, according to advocate Ajay Govindaraju.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar adopted Yaduveer Gopal Raje Urs, son of Tripura Sundaridevi and Swaroop Anand Gopal Raje Urs (Tripura Sundaridevi is the daughter of late Gayathridevi, elder sister of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar) on Feb. 23, 2015 and there after renamed him as Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. Yaduveer was coronated as the 27th titular head of Mysore Royal Family on May 28, 2015.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar brushing aside Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs’s objections to the adoption and coronation of Yaduveer, formally announced Yaduveer as the successor of the Mysore Royal Family.
