Mysuru: For the first time, Mysuru will be hosting a state-level Pre-University athletic meet for boys and girls at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium from November 23 to 26. The first and second place winners of the meet will represent Karnataka at the national-level meet top be held in either December of January.
The meet will be inaugurated by district in-charge minister G T Devegowda at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium on November 23 at 4 PM. The prize distribution and valedictory function will be held on November 26 at 3.30 PM. The event is being organised by the Deputy Director of Pre-University (DDPU) Board, Mysuru in association with Vijaya Vittala PU College.
First and second place winners of district-level PU athletic meets held across the state, will be taking part in the four-day athletic meet. More than 2500 participants, 1200 of whom are girls, will be eyeing the top honours at the meet.
Speaking to Newskarnataka Dayananda, DDPU, Mysuru along with his staff members said, “For the past couple of months we have been preparing for this event, which is being held in Mysuru for the first time. During the four-day athletic meet, the participants will take part in nearly 20 different athletic events. The event will also give exposure to budding athletes. Apart from the nearly 2500 participants, nearly 300 officials from across the state will be present to ensure the smooth flow of the meet. We have formed a few committees and entrusted responsibilities to them.” He also mentioned that such competitions help the budding sportspersons build good relations, form a unity and develops oneness among them.
