Mysuru to witness 3 a side volleyball tourney for first time

Mysuru: For the first time in Mysuru, Mysuru District Volleyball Association will be conducting 3 a side Volleyball tournament for High School (U-17) and Pre-University (U-19) boys at Sougandika Udyanavana, Adichunchanagiri road, Kuvempunagar on June 24 and 25.

The main purpose of conducting the tournament is to promote the game, to select talented students, give free coaching for selected students and send the students to represent Mysuru district in the fourth coming junior inter district Volleyball championship and selection trials for Karnataka State Junior team conducted by Karnataka Volleyball Association.

“Regular volleyball matches are played with six a side, for the first time we have decided to conduct 3 a side tournament for high school and pre-university boys. Three a side enables boys to come out with more skills. Here one has got opportunity to play across the court which later enables him to play well in regular six a side matches” added D Sudarshan, national volleyball referee who is also joint secretary of Mysuru District Volleyball Association.

Association is also conducting District volleyball referee examination. Those interested to take up volleyball referee examination should register their names on or before June 21. The practical examination will be held on June 24 and 25.
